Home is where the heart is

I am absolutely in love with the city of Minneapolis; I doubt I'll ever leave if I can help it. I am constantly dazzled by the culture of my home of the last three years, but even so, I wouldn't trade growing up in my hometown, Moorhead, Minnesota for anything. I think it's important to remember where you came from and the way you were raised, which is why I fell in love with these lockets from Swedish designer, Lisanne Janssen. A simple reminder that home is indeed where the heart is.

Green Thumb

There's something about green plants in a room that give it so much life. I'm determined to makeover my non-existent green thumb (I actually killed bamboo which is damn near impossible to do) to bring a little green pizazz to my bedroom. Here's some of my inspiration:

Watermelon Fingers and Sea Foam Swirls

Just when you think the company couldn't get any more adorable, Kate Spade goes and designs the cutest set of spring nail polish colors I've seen yet. Available in April from Kate Spade. Is it just me or do they even look like a dresser accessory?

A little of life lately, according to my iPhone

1. Doing some on-the-side PR work for a brand new women's boutique in Minneapolis, Behind The Scenes.
2. At Blue Ox Coffee Company. Coffee shop trips on lazy Fridays ... one of my favorite times to get work done.
3. My favorite polish combo, as of late.
4. I will always love the Minnesota State Hockey Tournament, but it's so much more fun when you're little brother's in it.
5. Lunch at Patisserie 46. Their French desserts are out of this world.
6. I take approximately 8,000 baths when I'm home. It's when I'm most at peace.
7. Prosciutto and arugula pizza at Broder's Pasta Bar. Great early date night spot!
8. Had to snag a vintage Coach bag at Rewind Vintage. Too classic for words.

Petrichor (n.)

Here's to staying cozy in these next three-or-so days of rain. I plan on finally finishing this book, and watching this redboxed movie. The only thing that would make it better would be if I had these J.Crew sweatpants to cuddle up in, they are adorable.

Cocktail poster

I think this poster would be totally cool and non-tacky to have in your kitchen, above a bar cart.

Five songs you're just silly if you don't like.

It's not new, it just never gets old.

Mostly for the music video. Because it's a guaranteed trip-out.

Credit goes to the boyfran for showing me this mashup group.

DIY: Collar Necklace

I've recently hopped on the collar-necklace train. They can be big and statement-making with beads and studs or more simple and understated like this DIY from Harper's Bazaar. Either way they look great when paired with a simple-silhouetted top.

I know ONE too many people who need to read this right now.

I'm not naming any names but, you. And you. And you.

"You can hold tight to facts or truths that you know, despite the buzzing “what-ifs” that fly around you. In a way, you can walk forward stronger and more assured because you are putting faith in yourself being okay with any outcome. You can’t control people or what they do, and you can’t make everything happen perfectly in life. You can however, assure that you feel okay and peaceful throughout all of it.
Take comfort in the knowledge that you will be okay. No matter what. You are strong, you will take care of yourself and heal, and you will grow stronger every day." — Sarah May Bates

These aren't just any balloons.

These are GERONIMO balloons. No really, that's what they're called. These perfectly round, whimsical things have been on my radar for awhile now but I feel like it's time that I share them with you because we're friends and that's what we do here. I think they'd make the most perfect wedding decoration, don't you? Or just to like, have chill in your room and make you happy.

A little video about the company and the woman behind it all:

Edit: Ohmygosh. I found this equally amazing balloon company (though I think they're located in the UK) called BonBon Balloons. This is the future of BEAUTIFUL BALLOONISM, PEOPLE.

Spring Decorating

Long have I avoided putting anything in jars as a form of decorating since it has recently become somewhat of a cliche  (THE HIPSTERS ALL OVERDID THE MASON JAR ISH AND EVERYONE KNOWS IT K FINE I HAVE ONE I PUT MAKEUP BRUSHES IN WHY AM I YELLING?) but I may have to cave when decorating this spring. This simple jar filled with white flowers is just too fresh-looking to pass up.

OHP. The next style book I'mma gonna need.

I'm beginning to loathe the term "Parisian-chic" (start reading fashion magazines at a young age and it'll happen) but OH do those French ladies sure know how to dress....side note, I feel like this is a pretty consistent topic on my blog. Oh well. Deal. My blog not yours.

Inès de la Fressange, a premiere model for Chanel in the 80's, (UMM BEST TIME EVER) has recently written a style guide for all us common folk who just don't have that boatneck-striped T/black skinnies/flats-combo down to a natural science yet. According to Fressange, only eight closet items are necessary to transform you from Average American dresser to French and Fresh. That alliteration was my own. Thank you.

PS I would officially like to change my name to Liz de la Welle.

Don't you love the layout?! I like how everything seems handwritten and scrapbooky.

I can't get over how stinkin cute the pages are.

Go forth. Be fashionably French. And buy the book here
