“I worked with [Paul Newman] on the movie Twilight (1998). When Joanne Woodward came on set, he put his arm around my shoulder and said to me, ‘Will you look at the ass on her?’ That really struck me as an ideal relationship. I love the idea that a guy approaching 80 still loved his wife’s ass.” -Liev Schreiber, Elle

Zelda + Scott
"I don't suppose I know you very well - but I know you smell like the delicious damp grass that grows near old walls and that your hands are beautiful opening out of your sleeves and that the back of your head is a mossy sheltered cave when there is trouble in the wind and that my cheek just fits the depression in your shoulder." —Zelda Fitzgerald in a letter to F. Scott Fitzgerald, November 1931

File this in the 'Creative Dates' folder
I tend to think simple dates are often the most fun (but if you wanna fly me off to Italy, Mike, that's cool too). How cute is this dock picnic? All you'd need is a blanket, a bottle of wine, and some easy munchies...
...and then push him in at the end. Just kidding. No I'm not.

Happy Valentine's Day to all of you.

Splitscreen: A Love Story
This video made its rounds on the internet last summer, but you should watch it if you haven't. Or watch it again, like me. This video by JW Griffiths was the winner of the Nokia Shorts Competition 2011 and was shot entirely on an N8 mobile phone. Prepare to have your heart strings tugged.

Tiffany + The Sartorialist + Garance Doré = THEE. BEST. CAMPAIGN. EVER.
This is. the most heart-warming, brilliant, makes-my-heart-skip-a-thousand-beats-per-minute, campaign. EVER. EVER EVER. Tiffany (everyone's favorite robin's egg blue jeweler) teamed up with street style photographer Scott Schuman—of The Sartorialist fame—and his equally talented blogger girlfriend, Garance Doré, to create What Makes Love True, the most (impressively uncheesy) collaboration to celebrate all that is love.
Tiffany represents everything that is tangible about love; engagement rings, jewelry, things you buy to "show someone you love them." Revealing a deeper side of the brand, they teamed up with Scott, Garance and their customers to launch "a unique guide to matters of the heart." Users can upload photos (the website even has a special filter app for the photos making them romantically hazy like the ones below), videos, stories, and songs. Creativity at its finest.
Who knew anything as simple as initialed mugs could be so adorable?

"I'm Not the Silly Romantic You Think..."
"I'm not the silly romantic you think. I don't want the heavens or the shooting stars. I don't want gemstones or gold. I have those things already. I want...a steady hand. A kind soul. I want to fall asleep, and wake, knowing my heart is safe. I want to love, and be loved." — Shana Abe

"Grow Old With Me, The Best is Yet to Be"
I want to wish a happy 23rd wedding anniversary to my mom and dad. As I get older I've really learned to appreciate and respect marriage and the work my mom and dad put into theirs. Every time I see them laugh together, tease each other, or even hug, I remind myself how lucky I am to have had the greatest example of what love is all about right in front of me for twenty-one years. I will never settle for anything less than what they have taught me a marriage should be.
Love you both!

The Man's Guide To Love
Between Bentley from The Bachelorette's frat-boy-from-hell douchebagness and congressman Anthony Weiner's, shall we say, "unfaithful cyber adventures" leaking this week, I just about lost all hope for male humanity (the inability to keep it in your pants after 11 months of marriage is truly a whole new level of pathetic—and oh OOPS she's pregnant with your first child). Thankfully, after watching this video series, I felt reassured that there are still (a few) decently raised men out there.

Love Ever After: New York Couples After 50 Years
This photo series by Lauren Fleishman did a photo series on New York couples who have been together at least 50 years.
“I wonder what life would be like if he wasn’t here. I don’t worry so much about me not being here. I tease him all the time. I say, ‘If I am not here, you better find someone to take care of you!’ Then I tell myself, ‘Get those fears out of your head.’ It’s going to happen, and whether it’s me or him, that is all ordained.”
- Ruth Spencer of Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, on March 14, 2009.

Another (Beyond Adorable) Homemade Wedding
I seriously have to clean the drool on my laptop when I get done browsing over on Style Me Pretty. It blows my mind how creative people can be, and this wedding is no exception. Like what you see? I put all the wedding details at the bottom, but be sure to check out the rest of the wedding pictures (yes, there is more of this matrimonial perfection) and read this couple's adorable story* here.

*I realize it might bother some of your beliefs and opinions that this is a wedding between two women. Even though I respect your opinion, just as I would expect you to respect mine, this blog has never been about me shoving my beliefs in your face. It has served merely as a place to admire all things beautiful; a category in which love, regardless of gender, will always fall in.
