5 Things I Found Today (September 5th Edition)

  • Do you ever wonder what song people are listening to when you pass them? No? Just me? K. Well. I enjoyed this video, "Hey Random New Yorker Person, What Are You Listening To?"
  • Ummm, these guys can bust a move like whoa.
  • MUST DOWNLOAD APP OF THE CENTURY. "If you're computer is stolen, Hidden shows you where it is and who has it. When you activate the tracking, Hidden will locate your laptop anywhere on the planet, collect photos of the thief and screen shots of the computer in use." How awkward for them.
  • You know you've been eating a s'more and have thought, "You know what this is missing? Beer." I present to you Beer Marshmallow S'mores. Yeah you read that right. You're welcome for solving life's most challenging issues.

Wanderlust: Paris

The number one reason I'm motivated to put a few commas in my future paychecks? Travel. "I want to see the world" is one of the most cliche wishes of all time, but think about it. The world holds millions upon millions of beautiful places and life-changing experiences and you only have one life to see it. It's a rush to think about, isn't it? I want nothing more than one day to live in a house where each room is filled with different travel souvenirs; evidence of my stays in foreign cities.

Stumbling upon Tory Burch's blog post that detailed an "Insiders' Guide to Paris" sparked a huge wave of wanderlust with me. It's a little too small to read here, but if you head over to her page you can check it out. Make sure to scroll through the rest of her blog; it's definitely one of the best to come from a designer.

5 Things Worth Putting Off Whatever You're Doing (The August 7th Edition)

  • First thought: holy HELL this is so cool! Where is this? Europe? Second thought: THIS IS IN MINNEAPOLIS?!?! Yes friends, this photograph was taken behind a frozen waterfall at Minnehaha Falls.

  • A lot of folks compile "life lists". Whether they follow through with it? Mehhhh...hey I'm not here to judge. Here's how to create a life list you'll actually do.

  • LOOK AT HIM! LOOK AT THE LITTLE GUY! This Northern Fur Seal was found starving and barely half alive. This video is him being released back into the wild. At time 0:03: "Hi." Look how happy he issssssss. I'm dying. I'm mush.

  • Okay, this is art. Hip-hop dancer Lil Buck collaborates with cellist Yo-Yo Ma. So so cool.

  • I have the biggest photography crush on this blog, called I ART U

  • This movie poster series was created by Emma Butler to serve opposite the growingly popular "minimalist" movie posters popping up. Clever, Ms. Butler, clever.

The show gives an enlightening, humorous, and intelligent look at everything from fashion and art, to music and books. Here's their adorable guide to packing a suitcase:

  • This guilty dog is so, so, SO ashamed.

  • Acoustic Eminem? I like this and am a tish annoyed with it at the same time. Lyrics were obviously switched due to Mom's presence.

Tag Along with J.Crew to Italy!

It may be because I'm a J.Crew fiend but I've seriously watched this video roughly seven times. That and I just love listening to Jenna Lyons narrate; there's just something about her voice I find so calming, is that weird?

I'm sure I'm not alone in saying I know absolutely zilch about what goes into the production of a shoe. No matter; Documentarian Douglas Keeve takes us behind the scenes of the entire process -- from the first sketch to the final product. You have to give the Italians credit for how seriously they take the quality of their shoes; leather is no joke to them!

Serenity...in the Form of a Mini French Film

Paris really does seem like such a dreamy city. Does the rain even seem more appealing there, or is that just me? Escape to France for just two minutes...

You Were Always Meant for Royalty

Add this to your dream bucket list! "Starting in January 2012, visitors will be able to spend the night at the Palace of Versailles (the famous residence of Marie Antoinette) when a mansion on the grounds reopens as a hotel. The Hotel du Grand Controle was originally built in the 1680s to house the king’s treasurer and his family. It was abandoned during the French Revolution and has since fallen into disrepair. When it reopens, guests will have the chance to walk through the gardens drinking Champagne and sleep in rooms overlooking the Orangerie." How utterly amazing...
