These aren't just any balloons.

These are GERONIMO balloons. No really, that's what they're called. These perfectly round, whimsical things have been on my radar for awhile now but I feel like it's time that I share them with you because we're friends and that's what we do here. I think they'd make the most perfect wedding decoration, don't you? Or just to like, have chill in your room and make you happy.

A little video about the company and the woman behind it all:

Edit: Ohmygosh. I found this equally amazing balloon company (though I think they're located in the UK) called BonBon Balloons. This is the future of BEAUTIFUL BALLOONISM, PEOPLE.

These delightful little (big) things are from Geronimo and I find them ten times better than regular balloons.

Awww I Wanna Have a Craft Party with MY Friends! (That's Me Whining)

These gorgeous and fun ladies..

... yep these ones right here, are the creative minds behind two of my favorite sites: Sitting in a Tree & Enjoy Events Co. What do they do? Why, they make pretty weddings possible.

Anyhoo, these wonderfully feminine pics are from their "Kate Spade-esque" craft-party photo shoot where they brainstormed all things wedding, party, and girl. Let's have a moment of silence for the prettyness shall we?

God I love being a girl.

Rice Krispie Treats Dipping Pops

R i c e  K r i s p i e s  T r e a t  R e c i p e

Ingredients

  • 3 Tablespoons Butter
  • 1 package (10oz or 40) regular marshmallows or 4 cups of miniature
  • marshmallows
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • lollipop sticks ‐ optional
Directions:

In a large saucepan, on low heat, melt butter. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Remove from heat.

Mix in Rice Krispies cereal and stir until well coated.

Once it’s cool enough to touch (5 minutes), use your {clean} hands, roll a small ball of the rice krispies mixture and set on a sheet of parchment paper. Continue until all the mixture is all gone.

For Rice Krispies on a stick, insert stick into the center and set aside for at least 30 minutes to finish cooling.

Decorating:

  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • Assortment of sprinkles & toppings – think crushed Oreos
  • Foam block
Place toppings in individual bowls. Set out for dipping.

Using a double broiler (or microwave), melt chocolate chips. Remove the chocolate from the stove.

Dip the tops of your rice krispies treats into the chocolate, hover over the bowl until its no longer dripping. Either dip or sprinkle topping(s) of choice.

Note: if the chocolate &/or the toppings are too thick and heavy, the lollipop stick may go through the rice krispies treat balls. Set decorated treats into a foam block or something that will keep them upright.

Colorful Popsicle Picnic

What a fun little party I found over on Design*Sponge. Little did I know until reading the captions that this was actually a wedding reception. Laid-back celebrations like this are so my style. Head over to Design*Sponge for all the details and DIYs.

Kool-Aid Cocktails

aka Crunk Juice. Enjoy yourselves with this non-virgin kiddie-cocktail. Perfect for Memorial Day:

The Tropical Storm

2 oz Tropical Punch Kool-Aid syrup
.75 oz fresh-squeezed lemon juice
1.5 oz dark rum

To make the Kool-Aid syrup: Prepare a package of (unsweetened) Kool-Aid according to the directions, but add half as much water as the package calls for. (That is, one quart.)

To make a whole pitcher* of Tropical Storms (c'mon, you know you want to):
1 package Tropical Punch Kool-Aid
1 cup sugar
1 quart water
1.5 cups fresh-squeezed lemon juice
1 bottle (750 ml) dark rum

*Word to the wise: make sure your pitcher is big enough before you start adding stuff. This version will make about 16 servings, so also make sure you have lots of friends.

5 Essentials For Your Outdoor Party

• 1 A couple of big galvanized steel pails will do the trick for holding ice and drinks and looking cute while doing it. They're inexpensive and classier than coolers. The nice big one pictured in the second photo is only $29 from Woodland Direct.

• 2 In lieu of pricey paper plates and cups, invest in a set of durable re-usable dishes in multiples for outdoor use. Melamine is a great choice. Crate and Barrel has these cute yellow confetti plates for $4.50 apiece, along with matching cups and serving pieces.

• 3 A couple of strings of white paper lanterns goes such a long way for an evening outdoor party. They give off just enough soft light to make the night feel magical and allow guests to see their food and each other. And even if the party begins in daylight hours, they look festive. The Paper Lantern Store has them priced at $1.25 and up.

• 4 A glass drink dispenser with a spigot instantly gussies up any outdoor party. It makes it easy to serve a single signature cocktail or sangria (along with your bottled drinks in your galvanized pail, of course). They come in lots of fancy shapes, but we like this simple jar, available for $66.99 from Amazon.

• 5 Keeping a stash of lightweight, machine-washable blankets for outdoor use is always a good idea. Guests can sit on them or, at evening parties, bundle up in them. Fleece is inexpensive by the yard, so why not DIY a set of matching soft blankets for your outdoor party kit? Even if you don't sew, whipping up a few blankets is a great weekend project. Here's a post from the archives with some great no-sew fleece blanket ideas.

L I N G E R I E P A R T Y

Is there anything that sounds better than a lingerie shopping party with your best girlfriends complete with champagne, sweets and the cutest, girliest lingerie you've ever seen? This is what my idea of a stellar bachelorette party looks like. This Studio City, California (real life) boutique is called Faire Frou Frou, and was shot by Sarah Yates for a spread in one of my favorite online magazines, Rue.

Cookies...With Bling

Go figure that my love of sequins and all things sparkly would eventually find its way to food. These little balls of sugary glitter goodness would be perfect at any soiree—just coordinate the color of the glitter with the theme or occasion.

for the cookies
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
1/2 cup confectioners’ sugar, sifted
1/4 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
2 cups plus 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
sanding sugar, in assorted colors
for the filling
4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
2 teaspoons finely grated peeled fresh ginger
1 cup confectioners’ sugar, sifted
1 tablespoon honey
-Preheat oven to 350°F.  Line two baking sheets with parchment.

-Beat butter, confectioners’ sugar, and salt with an electric mixer on medium-high speed until pale and fluffy, 3 to 4 minutes, scraping down side of bowl as necessary.  Beat in vanilla.  Reduce speed to low; add flour, and mix just until combined.  Shape into 3/4-inch balls (chill dough if too sticky).

-Place sanding sugar in shallow bowls. Roll each ball in sanding sugar, and place on baking sheets, spacing 1 inch apart.  If you find that the sugar won’t stick, lightly wet one hand, and roll the cookie first in your hand just to dampen, and then roll in sugar.

-Bake, rotating sheets halfway through, until edges are lightly golden, 15 to 18 minutes. let cookies cool completely on a wire rack.

-While the cookies cool, make the filling by beating all ingredients by hand or with an electric mixer on medium high speed until smooth.

- Spread two cookies with just enough filling to allow them to stick together.

Garden Party

I am obviously hot on all things spring today. This is what five hours of sunshine and one day of 45 degrees does to me. When a Minnesotan gets into their sixth month of winter, we start to go a LITTLE loony-tunes. Any hint of flowers, birds chirping, or easter-eggy colors & I produce heavy amounts of drool. Not that you asked, but now you know.

How UNBELIEVABLE is this Garden Party created by Luxe & Lillies? I think this classifies as spring porn; sorry if that's inappropriate, it's true. Let's put on pretty sundresses, eat raspberry macarons, and drink champagne. Even better, let's do it while sitting amongst heaps of peonies, roses, and tulips.

The Be-All End-All Summer Party Dessert

You: Summer?! What the F season does this girl think it is? Is she summer teasing me? That's just cruel.

I knowwwwww. I know, I know, I know. But you guys, the sun peeked out today, and it was almost 50 degrees, and it was magical.

My food cravings go according to season. Winter rolls around and I want soups, crave pasta, and constantly dream about all things thick, creamy, and downright horrible for you.

Sun brings out my intense thirst for fruit. I will immediately be heading to the grocery store to construct these pretty, pretty things.

This is what you call: food porn.

The pudding in the middle that you kind of want to bathe in but don't want to actually say that out loud because that's kind of embarrassing? It's Trader Joe's Belgian Chocolate Pudding.

Are you almost getting sick of Valentine's Day posts? Only a few more, I promise. I just had to share this adorable photo shoot from Ashley Meaders with you. It provides some creative inspiration for a cutesy little V-day party, hmm?
