Tuesday links

I suppose it's common to do a links post on Fridays, but we all could use a Tuesday pick-me-up.

  • Two girls I know from high school have taken on a beautiful project, called Styled With Strength. They send inspiring emails that provide a little TLC for the body, mind, and soul. To get on the mailing list email them at styledwithstrength@gmail.com
  • So excited for the new movie, Hitchcock. It's about the love story between Alfred Hitchcock and his wife Alma Reville during the filming Pyscho in 1959. How identical are Anthony Hopkins and Hitchcock?!
  • Gojee. Have we talked about this site before? I can't remember. But how's this for a foodie website; tell Gojee what you're craving and what you have in your kitchen and they'll provide a recipe for you. Culinary magic.
  • Shopbop is 20% off today with code 'WEAREFAMILY'. You've been warned.
  • I've shared my thoughts on the seemingly everywhere camo trend in fashion here. But this outfit from Christine of My Style Pill is not half bad, I'll admit.
  • 17 other things Amy Poehler and Tina Fey should run besides the hosting of the Golden Globes. Lindsay Lohan's life, totally.
  • "You Can't Know What You Want Until You Don't Know What You Want". Amen.
  • We all love a little pumpkin carving. But the whole sticking-fire-into-tiny-cut-out-hole thing can get a little dangerous, and remembering to blow them out is a pain. Ta-da! Keep Halloween safe and easy this year with LED candles.

These COLORS

Definitely did a double-take while scrolling through this Quality Magazine editorial. One of the most perfect and striking color combinations I've ever seen. That lip shade and sunglasses pairing is...I can't even.

I Think I Found Thee Best iPhone Case Website Ever.

Branding 10,000 Lakes

Wow. This is impressive. Graphic designer Nicole Meyer has quite the project on her hands. She plans on making one logo per day for every single lake in Minnesota. If my math is correct, this will take her approximately 27 years. How COOL is that?? Am I biased because I'm Minnesotan? You can check out her project here

The Coolest Optical Illusion Ever

Swedish artist Erik Johansson created this optical illusion in a Stockholm city square. I seriously can't stop thinking, "OHMYGOD BE CAREFUL" -- it looks so real.

5 Things I Found Today (The September 14th Edition)

  • Well because it is the second week of school and I'm already victim to this horrible condition called Senioritis, I was quite pleased to come across Cramster. Cramster lets your download study guides for almost any college course, take practice tests, and also has a "Homework Help" section. Holla.
  • I love projects like this. The "Before I Die" art project has everyone sharing their hopes, dreams, and aspirations on a public chalkboard wall. Check it out.
  • The most organized and extensive "Drink Specials in Your City" website I've ever seen. This kind of inspires me to turn into an alcoholic. We all have to have dreams people.
  • This girl might just be the next Christina Perri. GET A CD OUT ALREADY.

Overheard on the Titanic

"This heartbreaking print "Overheard on the Titanic" was made by blacking out words in a newspaper article with a Sharpie marker. "

Shoe

This single-word statement graffiti was found painted on a number of different surfaces in London, England. Whether it was political, symbolic, or had any meaning at all was a mystery to all. Not quite the four-letter-word you'd expect to see cropping up if somebody made a hobby of vandalizing the city with spray paint. Personally I kind of like the mystery behind it.

5 Things Worth Putting Off Whatever You're Doing

  • K I may be the only one who finds this "worth putting off whatever I'm doing because I'm an intense baking nerd but, fun facts about Parisian pastries?! Hi that's awesome.

  • Australian illustrator James Gulliver Hancock has been working since last August drawing every single building in New York (yeeeah. every. single. one.) That is over 336,000 structures and a helluva lotta talent and ambition. Wellllllll don't I just feel SUPER ACCOMPLISHED with my life.

4 Things I Found Today

  • Guuuuuys (literally, guys), now you can get in on the DIY fun too. Man Made DIY is an entire website dedicated to "creativity and and the handmade life for the postmodern male".

  • Sad. "Too Hard To Keep" is a blog where people can upload photographs that are too difficult to keep in their lives. Beautiful, eerie and heartbreaking all in one.

  • I'm so effing happy after watching this video. You know those things that are SO CUTE you almost just want to smother them to death? This is one of them. Oh. You don't know what that feels like? Yeah, yeah me neither...that'd be so weird..

5 Things I Found Today

  • Okay, this is art. Hip-hop dancer Lil Buck collaborates with cellist Yo-Yo Ma. So so cool.

  • I have the biggest photography crush on this blog, called I ART U

  • This movie poster series was created by Emma Butler to serve opposite the growingly popular "minimalist" movie posters popping up. Clever, Ms. Butler, clever.

* I just realized this is only 4. I can't count until 10 a.m. so, there ya go.

Another Reason Why The World Doesn't Suck

"Pete Eckert is a totally blind person. But through his photography, he proves that he IS a visual person, he just can’t see."
